About

ckfrc-bannersThe Carolyn Kordich Family Resource Center (CKFRC) serves families who have children ages birth to 36 months who have disabilities or who are at risk. Our service community includes Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, Lomita, San Pedro, Wilmington and parts of Carson.

For over two decades we have offered parent to parent support, referrals, information and educational trainings and other services specific to a family’s needs and the professionals who serve them.  We began as the Harbor Area Early Intervention Council Family Resource Center before becoming the Carolyn Kordich Family Resource Center.

Fifteen of those years we have been most privileged to be housed with Volunteers of America Early Head Start in Harbor City.  Also at that time we honored Carolyn Kordich by renaming our center after her.  Carolyn was the Social Service Coordinator for Volunteers of America and always made sure that families with children with disabilities were included and served.  She was the person who made sure there was a Family Resource Center in this area.  Sadly, Carolyn passed away at a very early age but we continue to follow her shining example to make sure families in this area have their needs met.

CKFRC provides information, referrals, parent-to-parent support and education to families of infants and toddlers with or at risk for developmental delays.   We also provide resources and support to the professionals who serve these families.

We are a part of Public Health Foundation Enterprises (PHFE) and are funded by Part C/ California Early Start which is administered by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
